Tamahagane Knives made in Niigata Japan specialise in the use of VG-5 stainless steel to manufacture a fantastic range of traditional Japanese knives. VG-5 is similar to the more widely used VG-10 stainless steel but considered slightly easier to sharpen and better for edge retention. Tamahagane knives incorporate a 3 layer construction consisting of an inner core of the extremely hard VG5 steel for superior sharpness and strength, sandwiched between two softer layers of stainless steel for protection and flexibility. The resulting knife is a unique and full stainless steel Japanese style knife offering great cutting performance. This comprehensive range offers knives from the tiny Tamahagane Bamboo TK-1109 9cm Paring knife right up to the impressive Tamahagane Bamboo TK-1103 27cm Chefs knife.

The Tamahagane San Tsubame range offers the 3-layer blades with a hammered finish which prevents food from sticking to the blades and adds to the beauty of the knife.
